It's been awhile since I've posted. It was a busy summer and there wasn't much free time to write. I'm picking it back up again but, until there's something new to share, here's a little piece I wrote earlier this summer for a memoir writing class. The prompt was to write a story that describes a point in time in your childhood when you learned something that surprised you.
I’m reminded of a time in the early 90s, when I was about three years old, and my father told me one day that he’d be on TV that evening. When it was nearly time for the live telecast, I expected him to break the TV screen and enter the box to appear on it. I believed that everyone who was on TV was actually inside it! So when I saw my father leave home for the studio, it made no sense to me—why go farther away from the TV when all you had to do was go inside it?!
Love it. Technology seriously baffles me, too! Internet, WIFI, cell data? It's pathetically all quite mind-blowing to me. Family loves to rip on me about that. Not sure I'll ever grasp how it works. Oh well!
